Winter Driving Basics PM Session

  • This event has passed.

February 25, 2018 @ 12:30 pm - 4:30 pm

Winter Driving in Michigan is unpredictable, just like the weather. The M1 Winter Driving Basics Program is designed to teach students what to do when slippery conditions cause the vehicle to skid or oversteer.

The most common loss of vehicle control happens when the back end of the car loses traction and starts skid or slide, what the driver does within a few seconds can determine whether this skid will result in a small loss of control or a major incident. The half-day program will teach you what to do in the event of a loss of control, what to do with your eyes, hands and feet to regain control of the vehicle and get it safely back underway. A must for new drivers and a great way to develop new skills for seasoned drivers. Open to all ages (new drivers must have a valid learners permit). Morning and afternoon sessions available.

Vehicle Used: LaFontaine Chevrolet Cruze Drift Car.

If snow or ice is present, students will also drive the Cadillac ATS (RWD) and Dodge Challenger GT (AWD) through coned course and slalom to show driving characteristics of rear wheel drive versus all wheel drive in the snow.

Vehicles Used: Lafontaine Cadillac ATS and Dodge Challenger GT (All Wheel Drive)

Limited to 20 participants per session. Morning and Afternoon Sessions Available.

Afternoon Session 12:30PM to 4:30PM
