Teen Defensive Driving One Day Only! Sunday May 19th from 1 to 5:30PM
The M1 Concourse Teen Defensive Driving program is specifically designed to improve overall skill behind the wheel, instill confidence and increase awareness in teen drivers*. The day begins with a classroom discussion about the basics of defensive driving and the dangers of distracted driving. Then the day continues with several real-world exercises in vehicles and interactive discussions. Help your child become a better driver.
Skid Car: The skid car exercise will teach participants what to do in the event of skid or slide resulting from a loss of control. Using the skills taught by the instructor, participants will learn how to recognize the skid and properly react using their eyes, hands and feet to regain control of the vehicle safely.
Vehicle Dynamics Course: Utilizing the south loop of the test track, participants will push vehicles to the limit in a safe and controlled environment. The course consists of a slalom, emergency lane change scenarios and a full ABS braking drill. With individual coaching from the instructor, drivers will be encouraged to gradually increase their speed and effort while learning about the capabilities of the vehicle.
Vehicle Maintenance and Distracted Driving : An instructor will discuss the importance of regular vehicle maintenance as well as how to check items such as tire pressure, selecting proper seating position and mirror position. Additionally, there will be a strong focus on the dangers of distracted driving and how to avoid them
*Participants must have valid driver’s permit/license*
*Those under 18 years of age will need parent/guardian signature for the liability waiver*
